If attached is chosen, this generally means that the materials and workmanship have a closer match than if the structure were detached (like roofline, brick or siding, if used) And of course, with teh attached garage, vehicles can be reached in and out of the weather.

Detached outbuildings normally mean that utilities must be run. Then too, there is the semi-detached concept, where a covered passway be created in order to join garage with dwelling.

Whichever chosen, be sure to discuss all practical alternatives with the qualified contractors you choose to meet with. .
