| Renovation
for Contractors : Intelligent Buildings & Structures
Buildings
are being built to future tenants requirements that are growing
to meet new needs. Capital is being dedicated to reforming older
structures, instead of spending on the new. This increase in demand
to transform existing structures is in particular, focused on
those that by design, can be given jump in their "intelligence".
Among those
that benefit from this trend will be renovators that are operationally
competent; those that have the abilities to successfully integrate
and/or adapt these systems into present building infrastructures.
Greater technology,
safety and security, and energy efficiency requirements are affected
by everything from the building's existing:
cabling and networks, to other basic structures and systems like
HVAC/Mechanical and routing of ducts, ceiling designs and even
available rooftop configurations for transmitting antennas. This
all first assumes building site proximity for availability of
coaxial or fiber-optic cable access.
Renovators
and certainly those with capabilities as design contractor that
wish to merge with this trend can expect a concentration in the
areas of building feasibility and assessment, telecommunications
networks, electrical/low voltage subcontractor assistance, and
increased total subcontractor cooperation as a working body unit.
Even complete automated management systems.
Renovators
able to perform projects as a turn-key operation method thus far
have formed the minority. Their numbers are edging slowly.
